A music blog about music that doesnt get played as much as it should. |
Ive been busy so heres the first post in awhile. Hearing this song was one of those times when i couldnt believe my ears. Its the militant feel Blue Scholars sound that i love and hasnt been present much since Bayani a few years ago. This song is perfect for how i feel right now, perfect match. After finding this i did some more research and read on the Scholars twitter that their aiming for a spring release for Cinemetropolis, their next album. If it sounds more like this and less like the poppier stuff theyve been releasing i will be unbelieveably happy. A very unbelievable release, as you can probably tell.
I woke up this morning and found this song by Kid Cudi and im really liking it right now.Its called Mojo So Dope an im guessing its off MOTM2 but im not sure.
I had know about the Black Keys for a little but never really listened to them much. I saw this video about a week ago, an really liked it.
This song is called The Town, off Macklemores Unplanned Mixtape. Its features alot of the Seattle Hip Hop community an has a great beat. Enjoy
This short film stars a rapper from Seattle named Macklemore, who ive been following for a few months now.I was bored an discovered this on youtube an i liked it. Its directed by Ryan Lewis, essentially Macklemores producer. ill put some of Macklemores music up also.
A new Kid Cudi song a stumbled across a few minutes ago. Not bad, but not my favorite. Im looking forward to MOTM2 bt hopefully its more lik Revolution of Evolution and Mr. Rager than this.
My favorite artist ever, Blue Scholars released a Hawaii influenced EP last august and Ive been waiting since then to play it all summer long. Heres the video to the most played song off the album, called HI 808. Check the hawaiian royal history reference at :54 about Queen Liliuokalani and the Iolani Palace. Great way to start summer.
The video for The Roots new song, Dear God 2.0 off the new album How I Got Over. One of the better songs from the album.
My first post so bear with me. The Roots newest studio LP How I Got Over came out today and i took my first day of summer to check it out and i was not disappointed at all. Its a mostly mellow and somber album and not as dark as their previous album, Rising Down. The overall message of the album is hope, an you definitely feel it after listening to it. Standout tracks are Dear God 2.0 featuring Monsters of Folk (interesting mix, but it works well), The Fire featuring John Legend, Now or Never, and the title track How I Got Over. Overall 4/5 stars because while it was a great album it didnt blow me away. Enjoy and ill post a song or two i like in a little while.
